All Materials Included! This thoughtful and comprehensive painting class, designed for beginners and intermediates, will guide you through painting foundations and beyond! Explore value, composition, methods and materials. Explore color theory and paint mixing, in depth. Work through a series of still life challenges that build from simple forms to more complex. Hone your visual skills and gain sensitivity for observation while developing your personal style. This course can be taken following a drawing class or on its own. Learn the fundamentals for working with clay and create a range of projects both functional and sculptural. Each class will demonstrate a new handbuilding technique, opening up the range of possibilities for working with clay, while you develop your own ceramics aesthetic. Explore form and surface while making anything from bowls to planters to nonfunctional pieces. An introduction to wheel throwing will be included. Learn foundations for drawing through line and tone, while training your eye in composition, proportion and perspective. Summer Styles projects will include headbands, circle skirts and wide-leg pants!
This 101 sewing course will thoughtfully guide you through sewing machine basics from machine threading to pattern reading and garment production! Brand new students will move through a curriculum of fun and stylish projects that build on previous skills. Students who have gained more confidence in their skills and taken previous sessions can move on to independent projects with support from the instructor. We provide sewing machines but if you have your own-please bring it (and let us know) so that you can learn to use it! Materials are provided for the first night of class. You'll need to shop for fabrics and notions that match your aesthetics and project ideas for the remainder of the course. Classes are designed so that you can take them multiple sessions.
